Josh is a self-taught money nerd. Conversations with his friends and co-workers inspired him to find ways to share his knowledge. These interactions and life lessons gradually transformed a hobby into a full-time career as a personal finance and travel writer. This vision led him to start a personal blog, Money Buffalo, to share his journey out of debt, investing, and raising a family. He has written for Forbes Advisor, Fox Business, USA Today Blueprint, and other award-winning personal finance sites.
“Living within your means may not provide a constant adrenaline rush, but you can find more joy in your activities. Moreover, you can sleep peacefully at night, knowing you have more freedom to do what you want when you want.”
Entering the workforce at the onset of the Great Recession, Josh quickly realized the importance of getting out of debt and living frugally to position himself for the future. His mission is to share his personal experience so others can maximize their financial flexibility to pursue their ambitions.
He took a leap of faith in 2015, leaving corporate to pursue freelancing. There have been several twists and turns along the way, but no regrets. He wants others to follow through on similar dreams to improve their quality of life.
In addition to writing, he owns long-term rental properties and is continually seeking local real estate opportunities.
Josh spends his free time with his family, enjoying activities such as bargain hunting, outdoor activities, and the annual beach trip. His family’s newest hobbies are gardening, baseball, and reading adventure stories.
